Diabetes Symptoms

Diabetes has been at times called the silent disease.  At diagnosis many diabetics end up in the hospital to bring their diabetes back in control. This is due to the fact that the symptoms of diabetes were identified at a very critical stage for the patient.  This in fact was the situation I found myself in when I was diagnosed with diabetes at a young age.

When we look at the statistics for diabetes we see just the case that the symptoms are not being identified.  In fact they show that nearly a quarter of those with diabetes do not even know they have the disease.

Here are statistics on diabetes for the year 2005.

Total: 20.8 million people
Diagnosed: 14.6 million people
Undiagnosed: 6.2 million people

With each passing year the number of those undiagnosed with diabetes increases. The problem lies in the fact that the public is not educated enough to identify the symptoms of diabetes.  You in fact might be someone who is wondering if you have developed diabetes.

The purpose of our article here is to highlight some symptoms of diabetes as well as public awareness.  If you notice a pattern with these common symptoms we urge you to seek further medical assistance from your doctor.  Early detection, as is the case with many diseases, is the key to minimizing damage.
